Character Education

At Wellfield Academy, we believe that developing character is as important as achieving academic success. Our Character Education programme is designed to nurture well-rounded, resilient, and morally grounded individuals who are prepared for life in modern Britain and beyond. We aim to instil in all students the personal qualities, values, and virtues that enable them to flourish as individuals and contribute positively to society. Through a consistent whole-school approach, we seek to develop students who are:

  • Respectful of themselves and others, regardless of background, belief, or ability.
  • Responsible for their choices, actions, and learning.
  • Resilient, showing determination in the face of challenges and learning from failure.
  • Kind and empathetic, valuing the feelings and perspectives of others.
  • Honest and trustworthy, showing integrity in both words and actions.
  • Ambitious and motivated, setting goals and striving to reach their full potential.

Character Education Delivery

Character education at our school is embedded through Personal Development, PSHE, RSE, and assemblies, where students explore ethical issues, values, and life skills. The wider curriculum, including extra-curricular activities, leadership opportunities, and community engagement. The school ethos and environment, where positive behaviours and attitudes are modelled, encouraged, and celebrated. By fostering strong character, we aim to prepare students not just for exams, but for life — helping them to become kind, confident, and active citizens who make a difference in the world.
