PSHCE
At Wellfield Academy, our PSHCE (Personal, Social, Health, Citizenship and Economic) education empowers students with the knowledge, skills, and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy, safe, and prepared for life and work in modern Britain. Our intent is to provide a broad and inclusive PSHE curriculum that:
- Builds self-awareness, confidence, and resilience
- Promotes positive mental health and wellbeing
- Encourages respectful relationships and understanding of diversity
- Equips students with the skills to make informed decisions about their health, relationships, and future
- Supports students tto develop economic awareness, financial literacy, and an understanding of the world of work
- Embeds the principles of British values, SMSC, and safeguarding
PSHCE is a stand-alone subject at Wellfield Academy with time to deliver this and other strands of the Personal Development curriculum but is also a central thread running through the whole school experience, enriched by assemblies, tutor programmes, external speakers, and community involvement. We deliver it in line with statutory guidance for Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education, tailored to the needs and context of our students.
Ultimately, we aim to develop young people who are:
- Healthy in body and mind
- Confident and independent in their choices
- Empathetic and respectful toward others
- Prepared for adult life with the knowledge and character to thrive
