Labour Market Information

Labour Market Information (LMI) is data and knowledge about the world of work.
It tells you what is happening now and what is likely to happen in the future with jobs.

LMI includes things like:

Which jobs are in demand (e.g., healthcare, IT, construction)

  • How much different jobs pay
  • What skills or qualifications are needed
  • Unemployment and employment rates
  • Industry growth or decline
  • Where jobs are located
  • Working conditions and career paths

Why LMI is important:
 1. Helps people choose the right career; Instead of guessing, people can choose jobs with real opportunities.

2. Prevents wasting time and money; Knowing which careers are declining or oversaturated stops people training for jobs that may not exist.

3. Shows which skills are valuable; Workers can develop skills that employers actually need.

4. Helps employers hire better; Companies can understand talent shortages and salary expectations.

5. Helps governments and schools plan ahead; They can fund training programs and courses for growing industries.

6. Supports the economy; When people work in needed jobs, businesses grow and unemployment drops.
